The Presidents’ Council Foundation Joins the National #GivingTuesday Movement To Encourage Spending With A Purpose

Launches the “How Do You Give?” campaign to exhibit charitable giving

Cleveland, Ohio –  December 2, 2013 – The Presidents’ Council Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners, to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the  giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season,  #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give  back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.

As a partner, The Presidents’ Council Foundation “How Do You Give?” campaign, will seek to raise awareness on their social media sites with a collage of social media news feeds that capture 1,000 ways people give back knowingly or unknowingly through videos, pictures or testimonials.

“Our decision to partner with #GivingTuesday coincides with our journey to inspire and encourage personal philanthropy,” says Nicole Bell-Moye, Executive Director of The Presidents’ Council Foundation. “We felt this would be a great opportunity, as our organization continues to work to support, develop and advocate for our region’s current and future African American-American businesses, to show the impact philanthropy and general generosity has on all our lives.”

Taking place December 3, 2013 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday will harness the  power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to  how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.

“Quite often we can get overwhelmed with the commercialism of the holidays and lose sight of the true nature of the season,” added Bell-Moye.  “#GivingTuesday is a the answer to the consumerism that fills the next few months. It’s a reminder that there are needs within our community and around the world that far exceed Santa’s list.”
